Enshrouded Skill Points Editor

The Enshrouded skill points editor is for build changes you don't want to grind for: it works on the skill data inside your character's .ksd file, in the browser, with no upload. Here is what it touches and what to do first.

Status: the editor is in beta. Skill ranks in recognized character saves can be adjusted in place; the tool reports saves it can’t read instead of guessing.

What the skill points editor changes

Skill points and their allocation are part of your character data, so they live in the same .ksd file as your items — one file per character. The editor reads the character block, lets you adjust skill ranks there, and writes the file back with a valid checksum. Your world, quests and progress stay as they are — the edit is confined to the character file you opened.

Whatever you plan to change, copy the file first and keep the original untouched — a backup is the only undo that always works.

Why edit in the file instead of in game

Reworking a character in game costs time you may not want to spend on a character you already know. Editing the save directly is faster and reversible — provided you kept the original. That is also the honest limit of the tool: it changes values you already earned access to; it is not a shortcut past the game's own rules on someone else's server.

Which leads to the etiquette part: before you bring an edited character into another player's world, tell the host. Boosted skills change their game too.

Under the hood

Character saves are stored as a table of contents plus compressed blocks, and every block carries a checksum the game verifies on load. So an Enshrouded skill points editor that changes skill data must also recompute that checksum; a file with a stale checksum is rejected by Enshrouded entirely. The export dialog reminds you of this before every download.

Before you edit skills

  • Quit the game fully first — Enshrouded writes its saves on exit and will overwrite your edit.
  • Pause Steam Cloud sync for Enshrouded while editing, so an older cloud copy can't replace your file afterwards.
  • Keep the untouched original. The safety and backup guide takes about a minute.
